After a very busy four months the factory was finally finished and we moved in on March 1. Four new staff members came on board, final testing of the machines began and we moved into our office and then over the next two weeks we frantically prepared for the first day of production.
On March 15 2004, we produced our first bottle of milk for sale. After nearly four years of planning we had reached one of our goals! It was such a hectic day we all can't believe we don't actually have a photograph of that moment!
On Tuesday, March 16, we delivered our first load of milk to our local retailers and yes, we do have a photo of this. Mat is our driver as well as working in production when he is not delivering. We like to keep him busy, very busy.
Our production line is now in full swing. Craig manages the pasteuriser, homogeniser and the separator. Mat looks after the bottling line and Scott and Christina do everything else!
Our bottles look little soldiers marching along. The staff have to check all the bottles as they continue along the filling line to make sure labels are correctly applied and bottle caps firmly on. Quality control is all part of the job.
Here's Scott with all the bottles as they come off the bottling line and onto the collating table. From here they are stacked into milk crates and stored in our cool room ready for delivery.
